Tips on How to Make a Resume
David Perry, managing director of Perry-Martel International, suggests nine resume writing rules to follow to make an impression during the short lapse of time recruiters take to look over your application:
- Give them what they want. Make sure the reader can find what they are looking for easily.
- Be relevant.
- Target your reader. You may have to use different approaches depending on who is reading your resume.
- Use bullet points.
- Highlight your strengths.
- Demonstrate results. State numbers, percentages, dollars, etc.
- Be concise.
- Highlight your accomplishments right away.
- Make it easy for the reader to see how your qualifications fit what he or she is looking for.
