My income was $9000 from a pension but not social security, why do I not get a stimulus payment?

This is a retirement pension but I do not qualify for social security for another year. This income was taxed. Why is it treated differently than social security?

  1. the tax lady says:

did you fill out a tax form? If you filed your taxes you should get a stimulus check as long as you aren't a dependant.

If you didn't file a tax return you won't get the stimulus payment.

All you have to do is file.

  3. You HAD to file your 1040 taxes (whether you owe or not) and have more than $3000 in income (you did). You should have qualified for $300.

I assume you didn't file. It is not too late. File your taxes and then you should get the stimulus.

If you did file, then pull out your copy and call the IRS at the number they have for the stimulus questions. They can tell you exactly why you do not qualify.

    Good luck

  4. Your retirement pension would not prevent you from receiving an economic stimulus payment. Wanna know how much you might get? go here —> http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/

To receive a payment, taxpayers must have a valid Social Security number, $3,000 of income and file a 2007 federal tax return.
Even though April 15 has passed, there is still time for retirees, disabled veterans and others who normally do not file a tax return to submit a 2007 form to receive an economic stimulus payment.

Yes…if you didn't file than file your taxes!! It's not too late!! You'll get a stimulus rebate…but it'll be late!! Better late than never though!!

  6. There are two ways to be eligible for the rebate. One is to have more than $3,000 in "qualifying income". When Congress wrote the the law, they said that Social Security retirement income does count as qualifying. They also said pension income does not count as qualifying income.

The other way to be eligible is to pay income taxes. If your pension income was high enough to give you a tax liability of $1 (or more), you would have qualified for at least $300 (or $600 if married) tax rebate.

  7. Because as fujita wisely said in Star fox about his power level "ITS OVER NINE THOUSAND" your income must exceed 9000 to get a stimulus payment. Tough break kid.
